…stays in Vegas, right? Well not this time! Meet our new, Las Vegas based USA distributors and latest additions to the Canny family, Michael and Daniela Carattini, who will now be exclusively distributing and promoting our products across the entire United States.
Michael and Daniela have been in the pet industry for a combined total of around 15 years. For several years, Daniela was the manager of Animal Outfitters, a full-service pet shop located inside of The Nebraska Humane Society of Omaha, Nebraska (http://www.nehumanesociety.org/), a multi-million-dollar, non-profit organization that took in over 15,500 animals in 2018 alone. Being much more than a pet shop manager, Daniela also learned a great deal about working with newly adopted animals and shelter operations.
Michael has been in the pet industry since 2014 as founder of Tre Ponti USA, assisted by Daniela as co-founder. Tre Ponti manufacture a range of unique, easy-to-fit dog harnesses with typical Italian quality and style (https://trepontiusa.com/). Michael’s background is in importation and distribution of durable goods, a career that has spanned over 25 years.
Thankfully the days of the cold war are long behind us and in the true spirit of international detente, we’ve been doing our bit for shelter dogs in a place where they really do need some help.
We were contacted by a fabulous lady, Kirsi Kivinen from Hollola, Finland, who has four big dogs, two of which use the Canny Collar. Kirsi travels across the border to Russia once a month to help rescue dogs in two shelters at Priozersk and Vyborg as well as spending long hours fundraising to help their work.
The rescue at Priozersk is Kirsi’s second home. Some of the dogs have lived here for many years but she has helped several to get a new home in Finland. With mostly big dogs, Kirsi realised that the Canny Collar could be a big help in giving these dogs a chance of finding new, loving homes so she dropped us a line.
How could we say no? Priozersk shelter relies entirely on volunteers and doesn’t receive any funding so we despatched a box of Cannys immediately. And whilst it looks positively freezing, the love of the volunteers for their dogs shines through in the photos and videos, enough to warm the hearts of dog lovers everywhere.
And last week we received our very own ‘emergency parcel’. And a lovely card of thanks from Kirsi! It may be cold but we’re feeling all warm and fuzzy inside knowing that we are able to make a difference to dogs in need, irrespective of where they are.
We’ve ‘adopted’ Priozersk as our official Russian shelter so if you are interested in following their story, go to: https://vk.com/prioz_priut. A little knowledge of Russian required!
With a spring in our step, a smile on our faces and a big bagful of stuff to give away to lucky winners, we’re back for this year’s Crufts at the NEC in Birmingham from March 8 - 11. This year we are sooo excited to be revealing our new branding featuring Leo, our ‘ever-so-handsome’ Swiss Shepherd looking fabulously relaxed, happy and dashing in his purple Canny. As we’re all about helping you to enjoy walking your dog, we thought we’d shout about it from the rooftops (with help from Leo of course).
If you’re going to this year’s event, you’ll find us in Hall 5, on stand 45 so please stop by for a chinwag and perhaps even a freebie. Just look for Leo, you won’t miss him!
We listened, we agreed and now we have launched what our customers have been asking for - a new range of Canny Collars and Canny Leads in a fabulous new purple! The Canny Collars are available in sizes 1 to 6 and the Canny Leads in widths of 25mm and 15mm in both the standard and CONNECT versions.
The inspiration for the range came initially from a discussion with a member of Canine Partners (https://caninepartners.org.uk/) who told us they would love a purple collar to complement the lead she had, plus all of the other items carrying the Canine Partners corporate branding. So of course our first donation of purple collars and leads went straight to the CP HQ! They wasted no time in trying them out for size with these handsome guys.
The Australian customer review site www.womo.com.au (Word of Mouth Online) has awarded us a 2015 Service Award based on the reviews we have received so far this year for Canny products. Womo is an Australian based business review site containing crowd-sourced reviews of local businesses, helping them get recognition for outstanding products and services.
Womo site is entirely based on user-generated content and in 2013, it was ranked as the top Australian business review website with 400k reviews for businesses with a presence in Australia. Only the top 5% of businesses get this award so we are giving ourselves a big pat on the back!
We are delighted to announce the launch of our new Canny Lead CONNECT, a simple idea but one which addresses a common problem. If you need to secure your dog to a fixed point, for example when you stop to have a coffee outdoors, normally you would have to detach your dog's lead, wrap it around a fixed point with one hand whilst holding your dog by the collar with the other, then re-attach it. This momentarily leaves your dog off lead with the danger that he can wriggle free and run off.
The Canny Lead CONNECT avoids the need to ever detach your dog from his lead. Using the strong, lockable buckle, the handle is simply unlocked, secured to a fixed point , re-attached and then locked with the red tab. Your dog stays connected to his lead the whole time and you have peace of mind, knowing there is no danger that he can escape and run free.
Designed for use with the Canny Collar, the Canny Lead features a soft yet strong padded handle for comfort, plus a padded grip to indicate the optimum position to put your hand when walking your dog on a Canny Collar. It is now available with two options, the standard lead version and the ’CONNECT’ with two lead widths to suit both small dogs/puppies and larger breeds.
