How does the Canny Collar work?
The Canny Collar uses a gentle pressure and release technique to train your dog not to pull. The behind-the-head design keeps your dog's head, neck, and body straight when they pull, preventing their head from twisting.
When your dog pulls, she feels mild, even pressure across the bridge of her nose. As soon as she stops pulling and the leash loosens, the pressure is released.
This helps your dog learn that walking calmly beside you on a loose leash is more comfortable. Praise or treats can be used to positively reinforce good walking behavior.
Is the Canny Collar suitable for large dogs?
The Canny Collar is available in seven sizes for small to large dogs, with neck sizes up to 23 inches. For dogs with a neck measurement over 23 inches, including many giant breeds, choose the heavier-duty Canny Colossus. Measure your dog's neck before ordering to ensure you select the correct size.
Is the Canny Collar right for my dog?
The Canny Collar is designed for dogs that pull on the leash and is available in seven sizes for most breeds. It is particularly useful where you need greater control while teaching loose-leash walking.
Because a head collar needs sufficient muzzle length to sit securely, it may not be suitable for very flat-faced breeds such as Pugs or French Bulldogs.
For dogs with a neck measurement over 23 inches, choose the Canny Colossus.

Cleaning: To clean, rinse your Canny Collar with fresh water to remove dirt, mud, or saltwater.
For stubborn grime, use mild soap or pet-safe detergent with a soft cloth or sponge.
Drying: Pat dry with a clean towel or leave to air dry.
Storage: Store your collar in a dry place to keep it looking and performing its best.
Tips: Regularly check the noseband for signs of chewing if your dog has ever accidentally got it into his mouth. Check the buckle and stitching to ensure everything is intact and performing as it should.

Returns policy
Returns and refunds
If items ordered from CannyCo America have any factory defects, CannyCo America offers a 30-day return policy, which means items must be returned within 30 days of when you received them.
Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.
To be eligible for a return, your item must be in excellent condition, unworn or unused, with tags, not smelly or dirty, and in its original packaging. You will also need proof of purchase.
Returned items are subject to a restocking fee of 10% per item, although this fee is always waived when an exchange is requested or in the event of a factory defect.
Items returned for any reason must be in unused condition, clean, and free of pet hair/smell, with the original tag. Returned items that require cleaning or removal of pet hair will be charged a $3-5 cleaning fee per item in addition to the restocking fee, if applicable.
For Canny Collars, please ensure you have ordered the correct size beforehand (see the page 'What Size Canny Collar') as the customer will be responsible for the shipping costs of any returns for an exchange of sizes.
Whether you are requesting a refund or an exchange, the original item(s) will need to be returned to CannyCo America.

What if I order the wrong size Canny Collar?
No problem. Providing you purchased the collar from our website and return it to us within 7 days in a new and resaleable condition, we will exchange it for you. Simply return your collar to us along with a printout of this form and we'll do the rest.
How do the sizings work on the Canny Collar?
Since dogs, like humans, come in all shapes and sizes, it’s important to measure your dog's neck snugly to ensure you have the correct size Canny Collar. As your dog's neck can sometimes be hard to measure accurately (especially if there is a lot of fur), we have designed the Canny Collar so that each size overlaps with the sizes above and below, so there is some flexibility when choosing your size.
Once you have your collar fitted, it's advisable to test first in your garden or house to ensure it cannot come off over her head.
What if my dog is exactly between two sizes?
If your dog is exactly borderline between two sizes, we generally recommend getting the smaller size of the two options. If you have a puppy however, it may be worth waiting a month or so and buying the larger size.

Walks with 2 dogs - my 10 year old black lab and 15 week old yellow lab are so much better with Canny Collar. Both are pullers and between them, they have 100lbs. Instead of constantly having to stop when they’re pulling, canny collar just stops them from pulling. I’ve had multiple hip surgeries on a defect on my left hip and my right hip has the same condition but haven’t had surgery for it, canny collar allows me to be able to safely enjoy walks with my girls. We have spent $100s on products for our bully/mastiff mix. Prong collars (which I hate), halti style, martingale, choke chain (also hate), harnesses, you name it and nothing compares to his collar.
We just bought this for our big 100lbs ball of muscle and he truly enjoys his walks using this. My husband is also not swearing at him or having his shoulder pulled out of his socket when our dog sees a squirrel.
The key parts for us is that it connects on the back of his head, so the leash doesn’t get tangled in his legs like with a halti style that connects under his chin. The next best thing is he can open his mouth fully to pant on walks. Other styles have prevented this. He has droopy jowls as well, since this does not go near his jowls he isn’t affected. The halti would tighten around his jowls and he would paw to get it off constantly on walks. The last thing that we love about it, he is learning that he can walk with it loose and still have fun. He is naturally learning to not pull anymore. He is almost 4 years old and I wish we found this product 3.5 years ago!
This has made a world of difference on walks and we will be telling all of our friends with pulling type dogs.

The Canny collar has been a life changer for me! I have a 10 month golden retriever that’s a strong puller and so distracted that a prong collar was not effective. The first time using the Canny collar was unbelievable! My pup walked right beside me on a loose leash and she got used to wearing it in no time.
I have used the Gentle Leader in the past but I really like the design of the Canny collar where it clips behind the head instead of under the chin. It keeps the head from turning to the side if she pulls so I think it is more comfortable for the dog.
I would highly recommend this collar for anyone who struggles walking their dog.

The product instructions state that the “collar is not a replacement for training.” I agree; however, the collar is poorly designed.
As in other reviews, I too had the issue with the nose band falling off. The dog quits pulling (desired behavior), looks to the handler, and the nose band falls off. I tried two different sizes. Basically, this training tool “requires” the handler to maintain a tight leash (applying pressure so the nose band does not fall off). Where is the reward for the dog? I will be returning both collars.

The Canny Collar does require a different technique than other 'set and forget' collars on the market, as it is designed to eventually train your dog to walk on a regular collar and leash. With the noseband issue, we do have a useful and informative video on our YouTube channel on this specific issue if you search for it (the channel is TheCannyGroup, our apologies, it will not allow us to post the exact link here, which is disappointing).

I have an instafamous 85lb amstaff who pulls so much on the leash. I have tried everything (literally everything!!) to work on it including trainers, gear, treats, and hundreds of hours using different approaches to walks to attempt getting around without it feeling like a battle of wills. If this sounds like you, get this!!
As a last ditch effort I ordered one of these collars. It WORKS! He pulls significantly less, and when he does pull the pressure is so evenly distributed I barely feel it and he slows down instead of leaning into it more like he did with other collars and harnesses.
I may need to reorder a size down as I followed the measurement guide and it ended up being a little big.

The collar itself is made out of very durable material. When I first put it on my 5 month old golden retriever, I was impressed with how much easier it was to control her pulling. However, the pulling has not stopped. My dog hates wearing the strip across her nose and is constantly pawing and jumping trying to get free of it. This is not the easy solution I thought it would be.

The Canny collar and leash are amazing! It is the only system that we have found that stops our 2 large dogs from pulling . Also love that it is adjustable and can be turned into a regular collar and leash without the nose piece.
I bought my first one from Amazon and it was too small. After contacting CannyCo directly, I sent them said collar and they immediately sent me the next size up for free!! My freight train of a pooch no longer pulls and was acclimated after two short walks. This company is absolutely top tier on all levels. We are loving the canny collar it’s night and day walking our golden and we couldn’t be happier!
My puppy does so much better on the Canny Collar than the Gentle Leader. Her being able to open her mouth more makes it more comfortable for her when she gets excited or after she has played really hard.
She doesn't fight to take it off of her during walks like she did with the gentle leader. For reference, she let's me put either on her easily.
I also really like that the leash attach point is behind the head instead of under it (no more tripping on or getting the leash stuck under her leg). Helps just as much with the pulling. The collar only mode is a huge plus too.
Overall a great purchase.
I have a hundred pound Malamute and walking her is like she’s thinking she has to get the medicine to Nome. I was crossing my fingers and hoping and what do you know?!? No pulling, at first she tried to rub it off but I kept the leash up high and distracted with treats and now we are sauntering about town as leisurely as you please. I am happy, happy, happy and I think she is too!!

I really love the collar. It’s exactly as advertised and my dog doesn’t pull. Only gave 4 stars because it recommended ordering size down if in between sizes. I did and it ‘just fits’ with no wiggle room whatsoever. I would suggest ordering up in case your dog gains weight. I could have returned and gotten a larger size but was afraid it might be way too big and this was not advisable according to the site. That is my decision and no fault of the collar itself. It works well for my pulling dog and that’s what matters. If she gains weight well then I guess I’ll have to order another collar…😊
We have a 100 lb labradoodle, that has a mind of his own. This collar allows us to walk him without him pulling off our feet.
I've tried other 'no-pull' collars, they were uncomfortable, therefore didn't work well. Canny says it will take time and training. It worked for my dogs the very first time wearing it.
The only thing that I wish was different is a quick release snap rather than a typical buckle. My dog has long hair, there other collars are quick-release snaps, so fiddling with the buckle takes some getting used to. - Which is the only reason I switched from 5 star to 4 star.
As for the 'no-pull' claim, I would give 10 stars if I could.

I'm not usually one to review products however, the Canny Collar has worked like a dream on all 3 of our dogs. One extremely strong labrador and 2 very excitable labradoodle pups....safe to say they are all an absolute pleasure to walk now.
Well made, easy to put on. The collar fits securely. Unfortunately my Rottweiler still manages to pull it off his short snout.
This collar is life changing, my dog now walks at heel nicely every day and it doesn't stop him from enjoying his walk. It takes training too but it's so much easier with this collar. Fantastic product!
